For reasons that will be revealed in this blog, research was conducted, via Google on the gun control policy in Qatar. The site found was https://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/qatar. It seemed excellent, although a bit dated as the data appears to stop in 2000. But it is most revealing and fascinating. On this bog, at some point in time, research was done on gun control in Dubai – it received a favorable response from Yours Truly. But it was interesting in that only the Emirate could obtain a license to possess a gun. Then on the Fazza “channel” there were at least there or four images of the Crown Prince of Dubai, armed with a weapon, shooting at a target, most accurately, hitting the bull’s eye. It was all rather powerful and was most impressive. But one does wonder, why were those images placed before the people of Dubai and the world? It actually was rather frightening in a way as it conveyed a means of control and power. He presents himself as a very nice guy, with kids and camels and chicks but this was not exactly the stuff of friendliness.

In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr, I Had a Dream,. This is said to praise the man, the speech and his effect on the world. His life cut short by a gun, by the way. This was my dream. I was in Qatar, standing at the side of the Emir of Qatar, hundreds of people surrounding him, praising him. I look about the audience and suddenly see a gun aimed at him. I throw myself in front of him and take the bullet. I do not die immediately, with great panic am taken to a hospital and surgery. Then I woke up – end of dream. Thank goodness, I guess. But here is the absolutely eerie part – the man attempting to assassinate the Emir was the Crown Prince of Dubai. He was, of course, captured.

It is only a dream, but what sense does this all make. I strive to find a meaning. One question is at this moment unanswerable. Is this a dream or is it a prophecy? At this moment I am forced to do research on my own: “the foretelling or prediction of what is to come. something that is declared by a prophet, especially a divinely inspired prediction, instruction, or exhortation. a divinely inspired utterance or revelation:” So I guess that it was a dream as I am not a prophet. It is a question that I will pose to ‘my’ Islamic scholar – it may be more complicated than meets the eye. I question myself:
Me: Would I do that – would I throw myself in front of a bullet?.
Alter Ego: If you thought that his continued existence was necessary to his country – I think yes.
Me: You are right. I am 77 after all and would not be of much use to Qatar.

My sense of humour emerges and so does my quest for information and knowledge. I sooth myself by learning about and disseminating facts on gun control in Qatar. The USA should be adopting their rules instead of letting NRA rule.

Qatar gun laws and statistics are amazing as you shall see. One or two male gun homicides over many years. There is only one female gun homicide in 5 years. Compare these statistics those in the United States of America. In Qatar civil possession of guns is not guaranteed by law. In the USA, supposedly it is. EXCUSE ME, I was a lawyer, I read the Constitution. The so-called Right to Bear Arms is bullshit. It is so much fun to write and not address a court – one cannot say bullshit in front of a Judge. . Everything related to guns is regulated by law in Qatar – the right to private ownership, civilian possession, every type of weapon is regulated by law, the carrying of a gun related by law. Gun ownership appears not to be limited to those born in Qatar.

Qatar has been a member of the UN since 1971. They have not signed some UN agreements based on gun control but I suggest that these agreements might be lax. Do not know have not seen them. Lax means not strict or severe; careless or negligent: lax morals; a lax attitude toward discipline. loose or slack; not tense, rigid, or firm: a lax rope; a lax handshake. It also is the initials of the Los Angeles Airport – where Qatar Airlines can and does fly. Not San Francisco after the illegal blockade brought by the QAE, (which of course includes Dubai) and Saudi Arabia (which is a whole other story). Anyway, it does make any trip to Qatar a bit awkward. What is that expression? If Mohammed won’t go to to the Mountain, then the Mountain must come to Mohammed. “The legend goes that the Prophet Mohammed wa asked to provide proof of his teaching, so he ordered Mount Safa to come to him. … “Mahomet made the people believe that he would call a hill to him, and from the top of it offer up his prayers for the observers of his law.” Here is a slightly different version. “If the Mountain won’t go to Mohammed, then Mohammed must come to the Mountain”. ‘Mahomet cald the Hill to come to him. And when the Hill stood still, he was neuer a whit abashed, but said; If the Hill will not come to Mahomet, Mahomet wil go to the hill. The angel Gabriel appeared and said: The voice called after him, “O Muhammad, you are the messenger of God, and I am the angel Gabriel.” This revelation was soon followed by others about the one true God. Eventually, the angel told Muhammad to begin proclaiming God’s message.”

Going backward I read from a prior blog, and was forced admit it was most clever. It was from the Related Stories section of a previous blog., speaking of gun control, actually lack of same. It comes from the New Yorker (of course). .
But then Adam Gopnik a staff writer and author of several books of differing and wide spread topics chimed in with another article where he cogently stated: The claim of this lobby’s complicity in murder is not exaggerated or hysterical but, by now, quite simple and precise: when you refuse to act to stop a social catastrophe from happening, you are responsible for the consequences of the social catastrophe. If you refuse to immunize your children and a measles epidemic breaks out, you are implicated in the measles. If you refuse to pay money for sewers and cholera breaks out, you are complicit in the cholera. Acts have consequences.”
This profound insight by Adam Gopnik has greater application in this situation :If you refuse to immunize your children a measles epidemic breaks out, you are implicated in the measles:” Look at the ridiculously ignorant people who say the will not themselves nor have their children, submit to the coronavirus vaccine? Wise Man and Alexis McBride discussed the repercussions of this situation, one being the virus will never be eradicated. .
He: I feel so sorry for the children!
Me: They did not deserve to have the children in the first place.
He: Alexis, you can be so cruel!
Me; No, merely factual. If one has children, one has a responsibility to care for them which includes informing yourself of true facts, not relying on hysteria (or in some cases on the internet) for information.
When I tell people about my blog, they ask:
They: What do you blog about?
Me; So many, many things. For example, dreams, gun control in Qatar, gun control in the USA, face masks, the Islamic faith, TIAs. But what makes it readable is that I am funny – well sometimes.
Trip to Primary Care Physician rather inconclusive – tests ordered including a MRI. So patience is needed, but patience is not a virtue I possess. Hahahaha
