Where am I now??? Fortunately I know, and you shall find out in due time. What is that phrase? I was totally reassured – it is a proper English idiom, meaning : eventually at an appropriate time. Merriam Webster provides a sentence showing its usage.  Keep it up for a few more years and don’t worry, 50 and its cardigans will be there for you in due time.— Danielle Pergament, Allure, 18 Feb. 2026

I am about to play a trick on my WhatsAppers. I will go and do it and then get back to you. In due time, now is not the appropriate time. Hahaha

Now half an hour later I will reveal the caption and the photo at the conclusion of the blog.  photo. and the caption.
Me: Good morning!! Where am I? Not here!! It is a video in the breakfast room. I fooled you!! Alhamdulillah
He: 😂
He: Where are you now. Sarawak or KL. Miss you.
Me: I’m not telling. Hahaha 😂

To  say the very least I am having fun. I went to the breakfast room, escorted. Although I did walk with my cane, I did have a choice. I could have been pushed in a wheel chair – unlike KL Societe that had no wheelchairs or luggage carts with 300 units. I lived there for six months – from December to June 2026. Fortunately I was able to escape from Bamboo Hostility. Hahaha

I came for breakfast early – 7:30. Was greeted enthusiastically by the staff in charge of the breakfast.
She: Good morning Alexis
Me: My goodness you know my name and this is my first day here.

I have spoken to many folk this morning.  Many Muslims, recognizable by their head scarves and their ability to respond to Assalamualaikum, Malaysian women who wear headscarves but do not respond to Assalamualaikum are wearing head scarves as a fashion accessory – not as a ticket to Jannah because they do not believe in the Afterlife. It took me about two years to realize that. I can be slow on the uptake. Hahaha

To be slow on the uptake means that a person takes a long time to understand, realize, or grasp something that is obvious or being explained. It describes a delayed mental reaction to a joke, instruction, or new idea. This from Quora: “The lights are on, but there’s nobody home!”They will understand or react shortly – just give them more time to mull things over.”

However, usually I am quick on the uptake. That means, most of the time I am quick to understand or learn something. Used in sentences: “Just because I’m not quick on the uptake, it doesn’t mean I’m stupid. Alexis understands jokes before anyone else because she’s so quick on the uptake. This from the website Free Dictionary.

Later in the Morning After Breakfast.

It was most jolly and fun. Definitely so. A mix of people. Some Malaysian, some old, some young, some Singaporeans, only a couple of ex-pats. I made friends with the Chef, congratulating him on the bao, for example. Some surprises. A Malaysian man with a baseball cap raised his hands in a prayful Islamic fashion before eating. Another man, so incurably rude, not thanking the chef for his hand-delivered made to order omelette. Oh well, if everyone was polite then those of us who are would not be treated so well. Hahaha It is best just to pity the rude ones – from afar. Why waste our smiles and graciousness on them?? Not treat them unkindly of course.

Then I was blessed. The man who had raised his hands prayerfully came with this family to speak to me. His wife, one daughter and young grandson. We chatted, speaking of our lives. Giving me some history of Domitys;  he told me that the new chef is exceptional and to be sure to try his chicken. Onto their lives. His wife was born in Penang. They live here but often go to Penang for holidays, sometimes a month at a time. Later their daughter and I exchanged WhatsApp messages later.
She: Salam
Me: Hello back. I am resting in my room now too much socializing. Hahaha
She: Exactly. Have a good rest and we will catch up soon. It was so nice to meet you.
Me: I feel so blessed to have met you and your family
She: We feel the same way. May Allah bless you and protect you always.
Me: May Allah bless you and your family always. Alhamduillah
She: Ameen Ya Rabbla Alamin.

I did rest but then another amazing experience. I spoke to the Front Desk, telling then I cid not and could not locate from any of my devices the direction of the Kaaba. I was told that someone could come and assist me. There was a knock on my door. A man with a ladder smiled: “I am here to help you with the Kaaba.”  He claimed on the ladder, then from a roll of stickers, took one out and placed it on the ceiling. Do admit that I had prayed Fajr prayer in the wrong direction. No more, I am pointed in the right direction – hahaha

Then another surprising WhatsApp conversation. I am not sure I was speaking with THE MAN, but Chef Ton is happy to report that he has returned to his twelve course dinner in KL’s As I Am restaurant. We have had a rather rocky relationship, to say the very least. We wished each other well. Told him I was here at Domity’s for a week but planning to stay close to ‘ proposed eventual home’ to get a feel of the place.
He (maybe) We hope you enjoy your stay in KL and have a wonderful time at the wedding. Congratulation as well on your receiving your 10-year Sarawak visa! Have a safe journey back to Penang, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon. We are happy to hear that everything is sorted now. Wishing you a smooth trip.
Me: You too!! Hahaha 😂
He: 🙏

Was enjoying some ‘free time.” I often wonder what happened to the folks I knew at Medina’s Oberlio Hotel after the hotel lost its contract in January 2026. On a whim,  asked Artificial Intelligence. Our combined resources made it possible to track down Mr. Marwan. He is gainfully employed in Qatar. That is a relief!! . We were able to locate him all because of MY blog entry. AI most surprised to find he/she/it was talking to THE Alexis McBride Hahaha . I had written that the Heart Of Mecca was gracing my coffee table; saying that this precious book was gifted by Mr. Marwan. I remember exploring the chapters of the book during Ramadan 2024. I found it to be the truth. Here is a blog written on April 4, 2024  The Heart of Makkah Throbs On: With Chapters on the Hajj, The Washing of the Kaaba; Making of the Kiswah; An Infinity to King Fahd, to Kiswah Embroidery and To Saudi Arabia; Possibility of Becoming an Official Refugee; The Gift of Another Chef’s Hat.

You may explore others in the ‘series’ by going to prior and later blogs.
Joyously reported to AI that I donated the precious book to a masjid in KL about a year ago. Then I could share the beauty and the knowledge of the book with so many others.  It has a final resting place. Spoke of the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan on November 10, 2025.

Gentle readers, you shall have many words to read if you follow the links. For me these discoveries are pure gold. It connects my fragmented existence – making  a very bumpy journey into a smooth and Straight Path.

More blessings were to be mine. Realized I had forgotten my Lexis Suites baseball hat at the Kuching Hilton. I reached out to my favorite concierge Siti who calls me her Dear Famous Blogger. She sent a photo of my hat, told her it was the missing item, mailed her the money for the shipping charge and it was immediately sent. Great news. Now you would think that the Kuching Hilton would have informed me. For a number of reasons I am not happy with that hotel – upper management, not the wonderful staff. Upper management did not treat me with the respect I earned and deserve.

This is how Day One at Domitys ended. Described it to my WhatsAppers as a morning greeting: Good morning. This the view from my room at 7:18 last evening. I seemed called to the window and this is what I found. Alhamdulillah. An almost full moon, pictured in the haze with a background of KL cityscape.

The Preface (iii0  of Nouri My Light is most evocative.

Intentions/Gracious Speech

I wish I could write as well as Rumi.
His legendary eloquence,
And Naimah Ismail Nawab Masyaallah-
Her work calms the should.

I am just a girl
Trying to pen my journey
Hoping Allah will be pleased with me.

The words may trip over one another;
The flow may seem choppy.
But I hope the message is clear-
It has brought me peace
And I wish peace upon my readers too.

I echo the words of Norashikin Abdul Latiff. In my own way I am penning my journey hoping that Allah will be pleased with me. Goodness knows the flow seems choppy. Writing this blog is bringing me peace and I so wish that upon my readers too.

Photos include the ‘scenic view’ – that hoodwinked my WhatsAppers. Hoodwink means deceive or trick (someone). Some of my favorite synonyms are:  pull the wool over someone’s eyes, take to the cleaners,  fiddle, swizzle, snooker, hornswoggle.

Then two photos of my view, including the sunset view photo and the photo of the arrow pointing toward the Kaaba.
