I was cleared by the wonderful woman neurosurgeon and now the knee replacement surgery is going to take place next week, although with all my luck there will be an earthquake or something or a catastrophic fire or the rapture. I have been waiting around since December for this to take place, my life has been on hold and this is more than a little inconvenient. But I am just going to develop some faith that it will take place as scheduled (yet again). So I shall go under the knife – God willing and if the crick don’t rise. Now that is another phrase that just jumped into my head – it means barring unforeseen circumstances. Where does it come from? Well apparently: Benjamin Hawkins of the late 18th century, who was asked by the US president to go back to Washington. In his reply, he was said to have written, “God willing and the Creek don’t rise”. Because he capitalized Creek it’s asserted that he was referring to the Creek Indian tribe and not a body of water. Where would you be without this information? No wonder I have so many readers. Hahahaha – I personally prefer that over lol – but different strokes for different folks.
I just thought of another word that might describe me – it is audacious which is bold, daring, fearless, intrepid, brave, unafraid, unflinching, courageous, valiant, valorous, heroic, dashing, plucky, daredevil, devil-may-care, death-or-glory, reckless, wild, madcap; adventurous, venturesome, enterprising, dynamic, spirited, mettlesome; informal game, gutsy, spunky, ballsy, have-a-go, go-ahead; rare venturous, temerarious. ANTONYMS timid.
So I am rather dashing, dynamic, spunky, gutsy and ballsy. Perhaps the Alix Residences should be referred to as Audaciously Authentic. The only slight problem with that is the initials would be A.A. and it might get confused with drunks, or that drunks might buy the units thinking that they could get rehabilitated by just giving Joo Kim Tiah some money. I am being SO devil-may-care and mad cap.
Now this is a true story. Tracey is staying with me – was to going look after me after my surgery but no surgery (yet anyway). I am in the bed writing the blog, she lying on the sofa.
She: I am going to send you an email – it will make you laugh.
Me: Well it already did because we are in the same room and you are sending me an email.
So it immediately arrived and this was the content, it came from a New Zealand newspaper.
A US man who smuggled NZ$17 million worth of erectile dysfunction drugs into the USA from China has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison for conspiracy and smuggling contraband.
Californian prosecutors say the drugs sold by 41-year-old John Lee of Walnut, Los Angeles were dangerous black-market creations falsely advertised as herbal remedies and some customers suffered permanent injuries.
Lee also was ordered to pay NZ$880,000 in restitution to victims.
Prosecutors say from 2011 to 2017, Lee illegally imported powdered tadalafil – the active ingredient in the prescription drug Cialis.
Lee made 5.5 million pills, some containing 14 times the level of the drug found in Cialis.
He pleaded guilty in February.
More than a dozen other associates and companies have pleaded guilty to conspiring with Lee.
Then Tracey and I started talking about what the permanent injuries might be.
Me: I guess it got so hard for so long that it just fell off.
She: And then how could he pee?
Me: Good point. I have no idea as I do not know that much about the male anatomy.
She: Well, Alexis, It isn’t that you are not trying.
Me: Good point. Maybe I should take a crash course.
So I could be considered wild, temerarious but definitely not timid. I am not timid, sometimes it gets me in trouble but it is worth it.
Another article caught my eye and faithful readers will know that I am into revenge. A retired barber shot and killed a physician who committed malpractice upon his penis.
The old man booked his appointment under an alias.
Allen Gold – that’s what he called himself. But his real name was Stanwood Elkus.
At home in Lake Elsinore, California, in the US, the retired barber tended to the final details with solicitous care. Business papers and a note to pay the gardener were left on a cabinet. Medication was packed away.
Bullets were loaded into a Glock 21 handgun.
Then, on January 28, 2013, the 75-year-old trekked the 90 kilometres to a medical complex in Newport Beach, a swanky Orange County enclave with one of the most expensive housing markets in the US.
He went inside to the second floor urology department and checked in under the alias.

A nurse ushered him to an examination room. And when the doctor, a married father of two named Ronald Gilbert, walked through the door, Elkus pulled his Glock and squeezed the trigger 10 times, according to prosecutors.
The shots punched through the doctor’s chest and neck, ending the physician’s life just days before his 53rd birthday.
Elkus then turned to a nurse. “I’m insane,” he said, “call the police,” according to testimony reported by Patch.
But the violent shooting was not, according to law enforcement, the work of a psyche cut loose from reality, but that of a sane man derailed by revenge.
As Elkus’s murder trial opened this summer, prosecutors argued the shooting was tied to an earlier botched medical procedure that had left the defendant with a guttering sex drive and erectile dysfunction, as the Orange County Register reported.
Elkus’ anger snowballed over two decades, eventually spurring him to homicide.
The malpractice occurred in 1992, Elkus was left with incontinence, low sex drive and erectile dysfunction. The doctor’s career rocketed and he and a partner started a pharmaceutical company focusing on treatment for elective dysfunction. The day before the doctor was shoot he received a US$30 million offer from a corporate buyer, “I will never understand how cruel that is – at that moment to be killed” said the doctor’s partner.
Revenge is a dish best serve cold. I am not fond of the Emperor’s lies but it is important for me to remember that The Alix Residences are not called the Posh Residences.
It is now time for me to get a facial – it was purchased from the Asian Museum. A picture will be attached to this blog. I will not be looking cute.
