A picture of the Sultan, looking most sad, with a poem which reads: “Sweet pain of longing. While I have you my heart, you left anyway.” Nor Le Moir’s name appears. Now the Sultan writes poetry but he/she just steals an image of him looking so sad, using it to promote the poetry. A misuse, it seems to me. But it is so deeply meaningful to see him look sad – and to realize that everyone has sadness in their lives – there is no joy without sorrow.
This poem is attributed to Fazza (aka the Sultan) and seems authentic.
I love my feelings inside me
That cause me to love you.
It is beautiful in sentiment and disarmingly simple with a heartwarming message.
Sometimes it seem that social media is sending one a message. But perhaps it is the result of having a viivid imagination. This song plays on his ‘special site’
I don’t need a lot of things
I can get by with nothing
With all the blessings life can bring
I’ve always needed something
But I’ve got all I want
When it comes to loving you
You’re my only reason
You’re my only truth
I need you like water
Like breath, like rain
I need you like mercy
From heaven’s gate
There’s a freedom in your arms
That carries me through
I need you
You’re the hope that moves me
To courage again, oh yeah
You’re the love that rescues me
When the cold winds, rage
And it’s so amazing
‘Cause that’s just how you are
And I can’t turn back now
‘Cause you’ve brought me too far
I need you like water
Like breath, like rain
I need you like…
The song is poignantly sung on YouTube, then immediately followed by another very sweet and poignant song, I Wanna Grow Old With You. Whaat comes next – footage showing the Sultan and his sister awarding prizes for Government Games. Immediately after Sultan in Scotland (I of Scottish heritage) Is there some sort of message in all of this or is it cookies or some strange You Tube programming? It does seem very, very strange and unusual. All rather mind boggling. But knowing that I am to concentrate on the journey and not the destination – calmness takes over.
Conversations with Flower Girl’s Wife continued.
Me: (in an email) I was just laying in bed and laughing about the number of grooms we have accumulated in the past year. I think five or six
She: We’ll that is not too many but I do remember Adam and he reminds me of Iceland and good times. Your life can never be simple . Keep it real. x Love.
Me: I promise to keep it real. With so much affection
Then later, back on Instagram
She: Bless so glad you meet all these rich and dishy men along your travels xxxx
Me: Me too!! Its going on the blog.
She: Cannot wait for what 2020 brings in the rich and dishy men category.
Me: My sweet I have gone about as far as I can go!! The Sultan is richer than anyone on earth and so handsome. Best I stop now. Hahahaha
She: But why put all your eggs in one basket. The fun bit is the chatting up.
Me: You are so completely correct. Because there was the guy at the Sheraton on the way home that owned Oxford (sort of) and the story of his life was so fascinating.
Me: How narrow minded of me!! Hahaha Blog this conversation or not.
She: I think yes
Me: And there is always Prince Chuck But Sultan does have more money and we can rent Westminster Cathedral for Flower Girl to shine.
She: Well I say keep your eyes open too.
Me: Being Queen of England a definite perk
She: Oh yes, but I think you would get bored so quick.
Me: Excellent point. With the protocol and all. To say nothing of Randy Andy. Oh my goodness I am so laughing.
It seems like something serious is in order, this has been such tomfoolery. What does that mean? Foolish or silly behaviour: the tomfoolery of MPs at question time. Its synonyms: Silliness, ooling, clowning, capering, capers, antics, pranks, tricks, buffoonery, skylarking, nonsense, horseplay, mischief, foolishness, foolery, stupidity; informal messing about/around, larking about/around, larks, shenanigans; British informal monkey tricks;
So, Flower Girl’s Wife and I are clowning, capering, being full or mischief and playing monkey tricks. But it is fun and rather improbable, but there are multiple truths contained therein.
My best thinking is done in water, in the bathtub and in the pool during water aerobics. In the bathtub this morning this came to mind ‘square peg in a round hole” I knew it explained how I have progressively come to feel. I have changed, people (all sorts and kinds) want me to be other a round peg or a square peg (or something like that). Even if I wanted to, guys, I could not. There is no changing what you have become at considerable cost. Wikipedia comes to you, via me:
“Square peg in a round hole” is an idiomatic expression which describes the unusual individualist who could not fit into a niche of their society.[1]
The metaphor was originated by Sydney Smith in “On the Conduct of the Understanding”, one of a series of lectures on moral philosophy that he delivered at the Royal Institution in 1804–06:
If you choose to represent the various parts in life by holes upon a table, of different shapes,—some circular, some triangular, some square, some oblong,—and the person acting these parts by bits of wood of similar shapes, we shall generally find that the triangular person has got into the square hole, the oblong into the triangular, and a square person has squeezed himself into the round hole. The officer and the office, the doer and the thing done, seldom fit so exactly, that we can say they were almost made for each other.
The Oxford English Dictionary has as its earliest citation Albany Fonblanque, England under Seven Administrations, 1837, “Sir Robert Peel was a smooth round peg, in a sharp-cornered square hole, and Lord Lyndenurst is a rectangular square-cut peg, in a smooth round hole.”
Not sure why that idiomatic expression came to me but it so contains my recent thinking and my rebellion against those who expect me to be, not what I am, but who I used to be. I shall not comply: abide by, act in accordance with, observe, obey, adhere to, conform to, follow, respect; agree to, assent to, consent to, concur with/in, fall in with, acquiesce in, go along with, yield to, submit to, bow to, defer to; satisfy, meet, fulfil, measure up to. ANTONYMS ignore, disobey.
I shall be me, myself and I. So there! So there! So there!
The photograph is of the pizza boxes in a place around the corner from me in Hayes Valley. It is the best pizza I have ever eaten!! What a treat it is to live here, rather than Marin.
