A Day in the Life of Lyf as Told by Alexis Alaa McBride The Number #1 Guest; Food and Faith Going to Be the Staple of This Blog in the Future; The Continuing Saga of Chef Ton and Alexis McBride to be Told. Lots of Foodie Fotos

Faithful readers will know that I am back in Lyf after leaving Bamboo Hostility, which is housed in Societe – the place with no heart and soul since I left five days ago. Fortunately it seems a long time ago – I was SO unhappy there. Had good times at Common Man – the restaurant conveniently located on the grounds of the building. Those good times and constant visits sustained me.

“I turned the page on that somber chapter, stepped out of the gloom and back into the sun. And here I am, armed with sunscreen and a hat. Hahaha

Here goes! The day is going to begin yesterday at exactly the same place. On a stool overlooking the kitchen at Mojo. Grandson Cole is the Chef of renown, Granddaughter Sara is serving me. Yesterday it was such a treat. Food was made for me, and for me alone. It began with bread made by Grandson, very crunchy on the outside, the texture of the loaf was decidedly airy. Different than any bread I have ever had. A new concoction – two actually served with the bread. One creamy rich butter with smoked salt and then a smoked garlic and anchovies. Delicious beyond belief. You shall see photos of it.

My main course was also a first. A beef ragu – the pasta cooked a la dente, the beef sauce so rich and then a cheese I was not familiar with, stracciatella. It could not be better. I gave it the seal of approval and ate every bite. Hahaha.

However, I was exhausted and tentatively and slowly made my way back to my room I left Mojo after lunch. However I was exhausted. Colette, a Lyf staff member saw my exhausted personage and said: “Do you want me to get a wheelchair for you to take you to your room?” My gratitude was immense. Within seconds I was in my room. I express my joy to the pursuer but also send a Whats App
Me: You have no idea what just happened. I left Mojo so tired. A concerned staff member said do you want me to get a wheelchair to take you to your room?? I am SO blessed and grateful.

He: Better to rest plenty over the next few days and drink lots of water.
Me: Thank you my dear. I am feeling every moment of my 83 years. Hahaha
And to think. A week ago I was living in Societe where there were no wheelchairs for the 300 unit building. You can imagine my appreciation. Hardship/benefit. I am SO grateful for Lyf and the instantaneous response received by an attentive man. Never in all my life have I been better treated. Save the best for last is I guess the motto of the day.

I was wheeled from the Lyf lobby. Wait until I tell you about what was found in the Lyf lobby. The opposite of Societe where all you find is a vast collection of competing vendors who work against each other rather than the valued team approach found here at Lyf and also at Singapore’s Raffles

Decorations include the signage from the Love Stories Charity Event. I was blessedly in attendance, wrote about it on my blog but also did a reel which is on my Instagram Alexis Alaa McBride. It is called Enjoy Your Life and now has 112 views. The caption: “The May 15 day at the Love Stories Charity Exhibit held at Penang’s Life Hotel. An amazing day it was.” Good thing I am not into numbers with only 112 views. Hahaha Going to read my blog posts does capture more specifically the energy and the talent of the gifted children. The blogs titles dated May 13, May 18 and May 16.

There is even more attention to charity and the community found in the Penang Lyf lobby unlike the sterility and chaos of Societe’s lobby. I sent a photograph of the announcement and display to one of my KL dear Muslim friends with this caption. “Good afternoon. This from the lobby of Lyf, I brought two bags. Funding to go to NASOM an autistic foundation. I am intending to make them one of my causes and charities.
She: MashaAllah!
Me: Indeed a cause I can contribute to and perhaps be on their board of directors with my expertise in special education law and my work with troubled youth in Marin County prior to my becoming a lawyer.

I napped in my room as I was suffering from exhaustion. Fajr prayer was early, as usual. Nowadays one walks about six giant steps and four baby steps out the back door to Kenny Hills Bakers, George Town. From 7:30 am to 10 am one is served with Lyf Guests Exclusive Breakfast Menu. Included the photo to a dear Muslim friend. Me: Good morning! My breakfast at Kenny Hill’s which is included. This morning I chose the pinto bean quesadillas. Yummy soon to my tummy.
She: ❤️

Me: I am loving my life here. I am going to blog A Day in the Life of Lyf. Of course, I would prefer Jannah but apparently not timely. 🤣
She: Bless you my dearest sister. Jumma Mubarak.

However, the breakfast was not that filling. So – some 24 hours later I was back at Mojos enjoying Grandson Cole’s cuisine. This time it was the Sunny Beef Galette Bretonne. Oh my goodness what it ever delicious. You shall see a photo of that as well. It is topped with a poached egg. And the joys of food in Malaysia – it costs a mere 36 RrM – which you divide by four – nine dollars USA.

While there spoke to my adopted daughter Lychee who is the sommelier at Mojo. I have not spoken of my adopted daughter Lychee. Sent her photo to a friend saying: My daughter. Obviously not genetic. Her accomplishments behind her. And she is self supporting and I had no labor pains Hahaha
He: ❤️
Me: I so love her. Must be from a former life. Alhamdulillah. No other way to explain this. None.
This is definitely a foodie blog – photos will be of the food prepared by Grandson Cole and the staff at Kenny Hill’s. I am a foodie. So it shall be food and the faith in the upcoming blogs. The strange saga of Chef Ton and Alexis McBride will continue – be more food for the fodder. Hahahaha

This is what Wikipedia says about fodder.

Fodder (/ˈfɒdər/), also called provender (/ˈprɒvəndər/), is any agriculturalfoodstuff used specifically to feed domesticatedlivestock, such as cattle, rabbits, sheep, horses, chickens and pigs. “Fodder” refers particularly to food given to the animals (including plants cut and carried to them), rather than that which they forage for themselves (called forage). Fodder includes hay, straw, silage, compressed and pelleted feeds, oils and mixed rations, and sprouted grains and legumes (such as bean sprouts, fresh malt, or spent malt). Most animal feed is from plants, but some manufacturers add ingredients to processed feeds that are of animal origin.

The worldwide animal feed trade produced 1.245 billion tons of compound feed in 2022 according to an estimate by the International Feed Industry Federation,[1] with an annual growth rate of about 2%. The use of agricultural land to grow feed rather than human food can be controversial (see food vs. feed); some types of feed, such as corn (maize), can also serve as human food; those that cannot, such as grassland grass, may be grown on land that can be used for crops consumed by humans.

As you shall soon see – that is not the correct use of the word for the July 11, 2026 dinner at Sood’s – right next door to Lyf. How convenient.
