Many people are beset with tragedy, illnesses and loss. Friends of mine, acquaintances of mine wrote of illness and an accident.
I am SO blessed. Just got word from a young Malay Muslim woman I met at Lyf last week. Her brother was in an accident and his condition is critical.
She: Please pray for him.
Me: I shall my dear I shall
She: ❤️
Another dear friend, a worshipful Muslim woman wrote from the hospital the other day. Her brother in surgery for cancer.
Me: Oh No. I will pray for your brother.
She: ❤️
I am so grateful to be a Muslim and be able to offer prayers on behalf of good people and to bring them comfort. Needless to say I did, and do, pray for them using prayers from my two Invocation books. I am making progress although did laugh with MOM saying I was a five year old Muslim. Right now you might be asking yourself: “Who is MOM?” Well I have returned to the land of nicknames – keeping the identity of close friends private. MOM and I laughed about it Protecting this man’s privacy was important to him; therefore, and hence, to me.. So this is what we worked out.
Me: Maybe not even mention your name. Leave them guessing!! Or give you a nickname MOM. Man Of Mystery. I love it. 😻 don’t you???!
He: Salams, yes that would be better and keep the reader guessing. Allusion always works more powerfully.
Me: Tell me about it. So true in relationships allusions always more appealing. Who wants to see the real thing. Hahaha 😂 Cannot remember if you call me Alexis, Alaa, or Whats her name. Hahaha 😂
He is very smart, Wonder if he will read between the lines. Will you??????
This from vocabulary.com When you read between the lines, you understand something that’s not said outright. If your mom calls every day to remind you not to make a fuss on Mother’s Day, read between the lines to know you better get some flowers.
So much has been happening. Momentous news actually. One step at a time is the ONLY way to go. The absolutely completely thoroughly amazing thing happened again. I thought of a song Home at Last – my goodness it is a perfect song explaining what is happening to Alexis Alaa McBride at this moment. It proved difficult to copy the words of the song. But here is an overview, provided by Artificial Intelligence. AI has taken over Google .
“Steely Dan’s “Home at Last” uses Homer’s ancient poem The Odyssey as a metaphor. It tells the story of a traveler finally finding peace and a safe place.
The Story Behind the Song
The writers, Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, were from New York. They moved to California to make music but felt out of place. The lyrics use the mythical hero Ulysses (Odysseus) to express feeling lost and trying to survive a wild journey. [1, 2, 3] In The Odyssey, Ulysses tied himself to his ship’s wooden pole so he could listen to the magical, deadly Sirens without jumping into the ocean.]
AI’s interpretation of the song did not, shall we say, live up to my experience and expectation. It was actually insidious. Insidious is the perfect word: proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects. Used in a sentence: : sexually transmitted diseases can be insidious and sometimes without symptoms. It can also mean treacherous, crafty. Scary synonyms: surreptitious, sneaking, cunning, crafty, Machiavellian, sly, wily, tricky, deceitful, deceptive, dishonest, underhand, backhanded. .
Looked up the words to the song rather than rely on Artificial Intelligence’s interpretation.
[Verse 1]
I know this super highway
This bright familiar sun
I guess that I’m the lucky one.
Who wrote that tired sea ons
Set on this peaceful shore
You think you’ve heard this one before
[Chorus]
Well the danger on the rocks is surely past.
Still I remain tied to the mast.
Could it mean I have found my home at last.
Home at last.
[Verse 2]
She serves the smooth retsina
She keeps me safe and warm
It’s just the calm before the storm
Call in my reservation
So long hey thanks my friend
I guess I’ll try my luck again
Chorus]
Well the danger on the rocks is surely past
Still I remain tied to the mast
Could it be that I have found my home at last
Home at last
It is a homage to the Greek epic poet Homer.
I was texting MOM complaining of AI’s interpretation of the song. MOM is a wise man, an extremely wise man. He is probably smarter than I am. I hate him for that. Hahahaha I
Spoke to him about calling Lyf home, after being a refuge with for almost six year. (Admittedly a refuge with am income, a credit card and often staying often in five star hotels around the world.)
He: I am so happy that you feel ‘home’, this is something that no AI cab ever be able to understand the importance of feeling ‘home’ or if you have finally come ‘home’ particularly like I did with moving so many so many countries. I feel Malaysia is may ‘home’ and feel very at ease here in every way although over the years I have come to make place a ‘home’ as it were. But AI cannot understand an emotion, or consciousness of what it means to belong, or even the feeling of belonging to to a place as a wayfarer which we all are as we are only passing through life in our existence which is like a blink of an eye in God’s time. Stay well and stay safe and have a terrific day ahead of prayer, gratitude and joy.
Me: I am so grateful and joyous to get your message of such care compassion and understanding. It is raining here. The rain against the window is so soothing and nurturing. It seems a direct message from Allah. I love the rain in Malaysia. Rain rare in my life. Snow in Canada. Rainy season only about three months in California and there were many years of drought.
I have decided that a social movement is in order. Texted MOM.
Me: I am inspired. Going to start a social movement. AAAAI Alexis Alaa Against Artificial Intelligence. Question?? Should I put Allah amongst the A’s???????
You are probably sitting on the edge of your seats wondering how in the world I found a home. It was Allah (SWT) – it is perfectly clear to me. The rest of you do not matter. Hahaha Allah (SWT) are in agreement. That makes things happen!!
Yesterday. Nixon, the GM of Penang Lyf and I met for a negotiating session To use the parlance of the Mafia – he made me an offer I cannot refuse. Are you wondering what that means? You are about to find out. It is idiomatic: . An offer from one side in a transaction with terms so attractive that the other side is almost guaranteed to accept..
The terms and conditions are in writing. It is absolutely brilliant on Nixon’s part. They shall never be revealed. It encourages me to stay on and pay ahead. My room rate is decreased according. to the length of my stay. The longer I sign up for and pay ahead; the cheaper the rate; Please remember that I am a long terms guest – so do not go asking for the same deal. Also take into consideration that I have the status of being Lyf’s number once guest and have been that for months and months. I should be able to fund a long terms stay very soon, for reasons that are, quite frankly, none of your business. Hahaha I worked my whole life until my retirement, went to law school while working all day for the County of Marin. I am a rich female dog. Hahaha I sent Nixon a text to which he has not responded as yet.
Me: Now that this is my home will my status change? Go from Number One Guest to ??????
First Honored Resident?? Writer in Residence? Comedian at Large? What?? Hahaha
This is my home I have upgraded to a bigger room. I am happy, happy, happy But the pain and hardships I have been through to get here are MASSIVE. I have always hated victimhood – it made me who I am – deciding not to be a victim. And then blessedly reverting to the Islamic Faith at the age of 77. Alhamdulillah
My new slightly more spacious room does not have a view. I have resorted to sending photos of Lyf upbeat signs. They shall be pictured for your viewing pleasure. Hahahaha
