Summary of World Events: With Friends Like Trump Who Needs Enemies: Telling the Truth; My Self Imposed Duty in My Life and On This Blog; Truth Impossible to Find in These Troubled Times if One Relies on the Media; But Never Mind, Life is a Test; This Blog Now a Trump Free Zone; Photos and YouTube Video of My Visit to a KL Mosque

As usual I find  truth and relief in the Quran. 1. By the ‘passage of time! 2. Surely humanity is in ‘grave’ loss. 3. Except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance. (Quran 103: 1-3)

My self imposed duty/responsibility/mission in life,  and on this blog,  is to tell the truth. And perhaps, to some extent, ferret out the truth, informing readers of my findings.

Where do people discover the truth in this day and age?  God knows. I do have to admit  that I have become extremely apathetic about world politics and world events, choosing to ignore the debacle. Investigative journalism, necessary for truth telling,  is a dying breed I reported in my December  4, 2023 blog. Without their funded commitment the press will remain shallow, crisis orientated and Trump-obsessed.

I realize  so many are mesmerized by it all. Do realize that some demented souls begin their day by turning on their televisions, watching news of the day. If they were not demented to begin with, they will be soon be. It is truly enough to drive one crazy, particular television coverage which jumps from one word-wide crisis to another in dizzying speed. I know about this only because,  on my visa runs, I stay in hotels serving fabulous buffet breakfasts in lounges with televisions tuned to CNN.

I am casting a jaundiced eye as I sit overlooking the peaceful Penang cumulous clouds.  My limited exposure to world events comes to me via my computer, reading trusted journalists.  Just finished reading a Susan Delacourt’s article about Canadian-US relations. Was most impressed with her concluding paragraph:

“It all comes back to one man — Trump, who reportedly just wants to make friends. But Canadians at all levels are asking whether the friendship even works any more and more importantly, what it is going to cost this country.”

So Trump is apparently running around making friends; Netanyahu is running around making enemies. How juvenile. Their playground is the United Nations sandbox where people storm in and storm out but nothing ever gets done.

I sagely conclude: with friends like Trump Who Needs Enemies? Artificial Intelligence explains the meaning of the term.

The saying “with friends like that, who needs enemies?” means that a person’s so-called friends are behaving so badly that they are as harmful, or even more harmful, than an actual enemy would be. It suggests that the “friends” are acting in a deceitful, unsupportive, or detrimental way, causing more trouble than good.

One has to be utterly and totally naive to think that this ceae fire is going to hold and become a lasting peace. (Naive: (of a person or action) showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment.) My favorite synonyms are gullible,  easily taken in, born yesterday, as green as grass, wet behind the ears.)

Decide I will attempt to seek the truth at this seemingly pivotal moment. I went to the only reliable news source that I barely trust  Al Jazeera. Do admit  I am beginning to loose trust even in them.

Oh my Allah! This a headline. Isreal/Hammas set to free prisoners captives. Trump says Gaza war is over.

Trump says Gaza war over??? Trump of all people. And,  excuse me,  it was never a Gaza war, it is a Gaza genocide,

The Opinion section of Al Jazeera present a far more nuanced picture. Thy  Belan Fernaandez wrote: What Trump said and did not say at the Knesset: The US president talked about everything, except the genocide.

“Trump’s Knesset appearance was occasioned by the ostensible end – for the moment – to the US-backed Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, which has over the past two years officially killed more than 67,000 Palestinians. Some scholars have suggested that the real death toll may be in the vicinity of 680,000.Obviously, the Palestinian genocide victims were of scant concern at the Knesset spectacle, which was essentially an exercise of mutual flattery between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a celebration of Israel’s excellence in mass slaughter. To that end, Trump informed Israel that “you’ve won” and congratulated Netanyahu on a “great job”.

She continues in an ironic factual manner:

“ As if that weren’t an obscene enough tribute to genocide, enforced starvation and terror in Gaza, Trump boasted that “we make the best weapons in the world, and we’ve given a lot to Israel, … and you used them well.”

This was an event that I an happy to have NOT be in attendance.

“Preceding Trump at the podium was Netanyahu, adding another level of psychological torture for anyone who was forced to watch the two leaders back to back. Thanking the US president for his “pivotal leadership” in supposedly ending a war that, mind you, Netanyahu didn’t even want to end, the Israeli prime minister pronounced him the “greatest friend that the State of Israel has ever had in the White House”.

Her concluding paragraph summarized the dog-and-pony show perfectly.

“When Trump at long last decided to wrap things up, his final lines included the proclamation: “I love Israel. I’m with you all the way.” And while US affection for a genocidal state should come as no surprise to anyone, it’s also a good indication that “peace” is not really what’s happening at all.”

Al Jazeera summarized the latest breaking news. Not looking good, that is for sure.

  • Israeli forces have killed five Palestinians in the Shujayea neighbourhood of Gaza City. They said a group had approached its soldiers before being targeted.
  • Two Palestinians have been wounded in Israeli fire in Khan Younis.
  • Despite continued Israeli attacks, Trump says the Gaza ceasefire agreement will bring “lasting peace” to the Middle East.
  • Qatar’s Foreign Ministry says the agreement marks “a historic day that we have been waiting for for years, especially during the past two years”.
  • Palestinians released from Israeli prisons on Monday say they were beaten and humiliated, while more than 10,000 remain unlawfully in jails.
  • The Israeli military carried out overnight raids in several West Bank cities, including Ramallah, el-Bireh and Hebron, storming neighbourhoods and villages.

Instagram’s ‘coverage’ was extensive. Not sure of the source of their information But “JUST IN” Qatar warns that the US and Israel might restart their attacks after getting all hostages from the recent deals.

Trump did a great job of ruining, debasing  the USA, now he is about to ruin and debase the whole world – or at least the world’s power brokers. Decide that I am safe in Malaysia. But then got a rude awakening.

“United States President Donald Trump will oversee a formal peace deal between Cambodia and Thailand on the sidelines of an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, according to Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan.Trump will visit the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on October 26 to witness the agreement, Hasan told reporters.”

OH NO! In less than two weeks. There is hope, he may not touch upon my shores because  Trump is insisting conditions and requesting China NOT be in attendance even though China was a major negator.

“US news outlet Politico reported last week that Trump’s participation at ASEAN was contingent on whether the bloc would hold an official ceasefire ceremony with him at the helm. Trump also reportedly requested that Chinese officials not join the ceremony, Politico said, although China and Malaysia also played a major role in the ceasefire negotiations between Thailand and Cambodia. Trump has instead largely taken credit for ending the five-day conflict in July that killed at least 43 people and displaced more than 300,000, in a dispute over unmarked sections of the Thai-Cambodian border. Trump’s attitude towards the Thai-Cambodian border conflict mirror his actions in the Middle East, where he took credit for a ceasefire deal this week between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet earlier this year nominated Trump for the Nobel Prizefor his role in negotiating the deal and “in recognition of his historic contributions in advancing world peace”.

Most people, including me, are not aware of the fact that anyone can be nominated for the peace prize but Trump’s bombastic campaign will have no effect on the integrity of the selection said a  Nobel Prize High ranking official yesterday. Trump creates news to deflect from the truth, the facts, the news that must be told. This technique is highly effective in an environment where telling the truth is insignificant and unimportant.

History provides perspective, not crisis coverage, to discover and appreciate the truth. Humor rarely enters into history books – perhaps it should. Charlie Chaplain once said that life is a tragedy in close-up, but still and all a comedy in the long shot. Life is a Test the Quran advises:The life of the world has been made appealing to the disbelievers, and they mock the believers. Thost who are mindful ‘of God’ will rank above them on the Day of Judgment. And God provides for whoever He will without limit. (Quran 2: 212)

Admit . I fell into the temptation of looking for truth and meaning in current events. I was distracted forgetting that life is a test which ends in death, but it does not mark the end of one’s existence. Once death arrivers, the ability to do good ceases. Then it is too late to repent and our fate will be determined by our beliefs and deed that we do in our current life.

Did you think that We (God) created you in play (without any purpose) and that you would not be brought back to Us (God)? Quran 23:115  Abandoning a search for truth in the media to today is fruitless and will not get me where I want to go, in the end.

I am declaring this, from this day forth to be a Trump Free Zone. Alhamdulillah . I am returning to an exploration, a celebration of the Islamic Faith. I invite you go to my YouTube to view my visit to the to view my visit to the Masjid Wilayah Yahperekutuan. I will include photographs of my visit there in April 2025.
