October 14, 2025

Time: 12:30 p.m.

This has been the laziest day of my life, so far. My WhatsApp morning greeting was sent at 9:14 a.m. This is about two hours later than my usual intrusion into people’s lives. The photo, most simple,  was forwarded with this message. “Good morning. This is a cloud in my sky. What you might miss is a bird flying high. There seems to be hundreds of birds flying high. A joy to watch.”

Nesh was one of the first to respond.

He: Good morning Alexis. So surreal. Love the shots you take, always gives a great perspective of everyday things. How are you today Alexis

Me: I am decidedly lazy and at peace. I am allowing myself laziness and as I did not write a blog yesterday I have the day off. Started a blog yesterday about world events and what is going on but do not feel like finishing it today. Instead I will do my response to your playful breakdown answering my playful blog. Hahaha I look forward to writing it instead of focusing on Trump and his so-called end to the so- called war which is a genocide/

A different conversation with Nixon

Me: Morning. I am delightfully lazy this morning. Going to skip breakfast.

He: Good, I hope I could be lazy. Hahaha Enjoy your nap and breeze in the room.

Me: I usually do not let myself be lazy so this is a treat.

He: Good move. Most of the time we forget to pamper ourselves.

Shamir’s response had to be dealt with in a humorous fashion. It was.

He: I slept like a baby last night. Now I feel better today.

Me You are a baby My baby boy. Hahaha You must look like your father but I cannot remember who your father is.

He: Hahahaha

Me: I knew it would make you laugh AND send a perfect GIF

Me: The kid does have brown eyes but the resemblance ends there. Haha I have been writing  the blog and my response to Nesh. We need a little humor and, as usual, you supply it. Well we both do. Do not forget we are the POOPS according to Artificial Intelligence.

A different response from Alice. A GIF

Me; Look at your bird. It is bigger and better than mine. Hahaha

Yasmin responded to my morning greeting in a different way.

She: I am listening to this. So mesmerizing.

Me: That was absolutely inspiring. A great gift from you to me.

Before writing this portion of the blog I wrote my response to Nesh’s from Laughter to Light

Here it is.

To Nesh

This from our WhatsApp conversation when the breakdown became “up and alive”

You: Let me know what you think when you can

Me: Wow Having lunch with Yasmin at the moment.

You: Alrighty have a great lunch. Just at your convenience commander.

Me: It is perfect!! I read it to Yasmin, the woman who sewed the colorful dress I am wearing. Its colors and design perfect. Made with Indonesian batik, purchased when I was in Jakarta.

From Laughter to Light

When one looks at ‘numbers’ – the ones with the most views usually begin with a colorful photo of me. This is destined to be a winner. Hahaha And so true, it did “start with a joke about iron pills” and a rather ridiculous joke at that!! Hahaha But indeed, if it was to go from the mundane to the sublime it HAD to end in” reflections about faith, friendship, and finding the divine in the ridiculous. “

Swiping did bring the day back to me. It was ordinary alright with texts, errands,  and inside jokes. And yes, “simple moments turn into reminders of grace, humor, and divine timing.” But it does take a vivid imagination and a lot of faith. I confess to both. Hahahah

The Phrase That Changed Everything

Indeed it did. Please remember that the phrase just came to me, leading to greater learning and understanding. I did see that it was your breakdowns that have been “transforming my days and lifting them beyond the everyday. “

Giving Nesh a Run for His Money The Mundane Text Exchange

Indeed I did, nothing could be more mundane than Shamir and my exchange about the iron supplements. One could say that Shamir and I got a bit carried away naming the baby, assigning paternity, and do not forget trying to figure out why the pharmacist sold me the pills in the first place. You are ‘spot on’ when you wrote: “Hidden in all that silliness was joy” and true “that is what mundane transformation looks like “ The underlying source of joy was my ‘almost’ clean bill of health – not requiring an unnecessary, invasive and expensive procedure. I was definitely in a great frame of mind. ( A frame of mind is a particular mood that influences one’s attitude or behaviour. It’s more than just a mood, it encompasses the particular way someone thinks or feels about something, and deeply influences one’s behaviour.) Mayo Clinic focused on Positive Thinking, telling its readers how to achieve it. This was one of their pointers: “Be open to humor. Give yourself permission to smile or laugh, especially during difficult times. Seek humor in everyday happenings. When you can laugh at life, you feel less stressed.” Here is the link for our readers:

The Challenge: Can It be Made Sublime

True you did meet the challenge and succeed. Found “meaning in laughter, synchronicity in ordinary days and faith woven through everyday absurdities. “Yes, the beauty of story telling – beginning with iron pills and ending with iron faith.

From Faith to Friendship

My time with Yasmin. Indeed two women with entirely different stories but one spirit of faith.

Penang does feel like a “sacred meeting ground” Not only does the writer, the believer, the searcher all co-exist within me but it was where I met Shamir, you, Yasmin and others so important to my present life,

Coming Home to Chaos and Taylor Swift

It was a perfect definitely unplanned evening to a perfectly unplanned day.” I did think of joining the spectacle. Asked how much the ticket would cost. I was told that as a hotel guest I would get a special discount.

Me: I should also get an old age discount, with that you will be paying ME to join the party.

The ticket taker did not have the authority to grant my request. I did try. Hahaha

Then the photos of me in my colorful dress, perfectly color coordinated with Taylor and the decorations.

Your breakdown ends with the surrealistic photo send to my WhatsAppers and mention of the marathoners. So still inside, much movement outside. I do think it is the lesson of the mundane. “The world moves, but peace remains where faith lives.”

That is the lesson found in the Quran  1. By the ‘passage of time! 2. Surely humanity is in ‘grave’ loss. 3. Except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance. (Quran 103: 1-3)

Back to the Day

Later in the day Yasmin sent a link with the following message:

She: I am listening to this. So mesmerizing.

Me: That was absolutely inspiring. A great gift from you to me. I am putting this link on the blog so everyone can hear it.

She: Wow That’s nice.

Me: I am so happy to be able to share it, so others can listen and watch.

So the is about all. Do not know if AI have the strength to return to world events. It takes a great deal of energy to try to separate truth from the lies, witnessing the gullibility of the media and word leaders thinking that either Trump or Israel can keep their word or be trusted in any way. Gullibility is a a tendency to be easily persuaded that something is real or true. I am enjoying my retreat from the world – retreating into GIFs, mesmerizing music, reflections on From Laughter to Light

Tomorrow, Wednesday promises to be a busy day. Lunch at my new Japanese restaurant, important chores and dinner with Shamir. I guess I will fave the cruel world in the morning, retreating to Penang and my people in the afternoon and evening.

The two ‘photos’ following portray two sides of Alexis. Almost all photos picture a smiling me. Going through my extensive collection found one of a very different mood. It is me, no doubt about that, but SO sad. My attire, the abaya and hijab, place me in Saudi Arabia. No remembrance of the cause of the depression. Most, almost all people, think I am preternaturally happy. Not so. Then the Artificial Intelligence creation which announces the comic team of Shamir and Alexis. Do remember there is no joy without sorrow.
