This Time Landslide is the Unlikely Title which Led to Other Unlikelihoods; Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained; Four Best Proverbs of Out Times (Apparently): Cock and Bull, a Favorite Synonym; Blog Breakdowns Prove a Better Me than Me: Ending with a Powerful Verse From the Quran

Certain words to a song again resonated with me. (The meaning of resonate in this instance: evoke or suggest images, memories, and emotions.)

The search for this song provided much more difficult then usual, but there isa happy ending. I found it, rather unlikely it is called,  Landslide, and was recorded by Fleetwood Mac

I took my love, I took it down

Climbed a mountain and I turned around

And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills

‘Til the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?

Can the child within my heart rise above?

Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?

Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Mmm

Well, I’ve been ‘fraid of changin’

‘Cause I’ve built my life around you

But time makes you bolder

Even children get older

And I’m gettin’ older, too

Well, I’ve been ‘fraid of changin’

‘Cause I’ve built my life around you

But time makes you bolder

Even children get older

And I’m gettin’ older, too

I’m gettin’ older, too

Ah, take my love, take it down

Oh, climb a mountain and turn around

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills

Well, the landslide will bring it down

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills

Well, the landslide will bring it down

Oh, the landslide will bring it down

The words that were echoing in my mind were: “ Well, I’ve been ‘fraid of changin’ ‘Cause I’ve built my life around you” There words were particularly evocative today (of all days) because later in the day I am going to be a star., speaking of Change. To be totally and completely honest – I do not know about this whole idea. Oh well.

Nesh is the screenwriter, Shamir is the cameraman and I am the star. Oh well, remember that phrase – nothing ventured, nothing gained?  I guess it describes this situation. It is, of course, an idiom. Its meaning will now be provided:

“You can’t get anywhere unless you’re willing to take a risk. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. “This idiom dates back to Chaucer (c. 1374) and is similar to the late 14th century French proverb, Qui onques rien n’enprist riens n’achieva (“He who never undertook anything never achieved anything”).”

Quite handily Google provides some examples: Starting a new business can be scary, but remember, “nothing ventured, nothing gained!” Exploring new places is exciting because, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained!  Trying out a new hobby might feel uncertain, but remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Somehow I ended up in a site that informs of the ten best proverbs  of our time. I shall provide you with one or two, or perhaps four. The site is groupeaightglobal.com – If you want to read all ten of them. The site promises all kinds of other services as well, by the way – none of which I require at the present moment. My life is confusing enough, thank you very much.

2. Don’t sail out farther than you can row back – Danish ProverbKnow your limits. This may seem like advice to potentially curtail ambition and enthusiasm, but in reality it’s warning us to walk before you can run. Getting to the top takes time.

5. Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime – Chinese Proverb Skipping fundamental educational steps to attain short term success will stunt progression and development in the long run. Equally, If you are in a position to impart wisdom or advice, others will reap the rewards down the line.

9. Some men go through a forest and see no firewood – English Proverb Ingenuity isn’t easy to teach. Sometimes you either have it or you don’t. But making an effort to think outside the box and attacking a problem with a new set of eyes is where the next big idea comes from.

10. It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness – Chinese Proverb Everyone likes to grumble and groan when it’s raining, and it seems like the world is against you. But those who accept defeat and let negativity endure are never going to find solutions.

This is turning into a total unlikelihood this blog, Unlikelihood in this instance is: an unlikely event or statement No synonyms were provided. Therefore, for further guidance.looked up unlikely . Definition: not likely to happen, be done, or be true; improbable. Okay AND a host of synonyms: improbable, far-fetched, unrealistic, incredible, unbelievable, inconceivable, unimaginable, fantastic, fabulous, fanciful, ridiculous, absurd, preposterous, tall, cock and bull, hard to swallow. My favorite??? Cock and bull, of course.

I have just received word from Nesh. What is the word (or in this, instance words)?

He: And its up Alexis. Latest blog breakdown. Always a super fun time with creating it. I love it SO much. You are a magician with words.

I sent him back a voice message. This is how it went. With much laughter I told him that I might be a magician with words but I could not sing and gave him an example. I sang: “Have I told you lately that I love you? Well darlin’ I am telling you now!” He has not responded, he probably went deaf. Then began to write again.

Me: Gotta go read the blog breakdown. Go downstairs, do the laundry and finish the blog. The strange life of ASS. Alexis Super Star. Hehehehe

Oops I went to Instagram and cannot seem to get it. Texted Nesh and got it. Its title is Fly Me to the Moon and Pass the Tongue Sandwich.  “A day of divine analogies, breakfast revelations and diplomacy. Today’s blog wandered from divine metaphors to unexpected film roles, Nurturing Emotional Intelligence to Nurturing My Appetite. Alice sent a peaceful sunrise. Teh chaos via GIF. Shamir unearthed another YouTube treasure. Nesh made me cry (again) with a blog breakdown that’s somehow more me than the blog itself

A Sinatra lyric becomes a du’a

Page 83 becomes a spiritual wake-up call.

Tomorrow’s shoot is already making me weep.

And yes, I ordered the tongue sandwich.

Allah speaks in lyrics, in laughter, in lost videos.

And I listen, sometimes with tears, sometimes with memes.

Go back and read the blog and you shall see that Nesh makes me more me than the blog itself. But he could not make me ME without my writing the blog.

If you have done all that then you can go back and read the day before yesterday’s blog breakdown.  Here is what it says. From Scabies to Stracciatella. “A Monday at Lyf, with rain, revelations and rigatoni. Did you read the blog yet? A little rain, a lot of rigatoni. And a whole reel of rediscoveries. From finding a dance video I didn’t remember filming to reminiscing about Lexis Suites (and yes, the scabies), it’s been a day of reflections, and unexpected treasures. Shamir found vintage reels. Nesh worked his YouTube magic, and I just kept writing through it all. It’s funny what surfaces when you stay still.”

So go back and read that blog and you shall again see that Nesh makes me more than the blog itself. But yet again he could not make ME without my writing the blog.

This unusual message from QuranFaithcom today. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have certainly made their ‘evil’ deeds appealing to them, so they wander blindly. (Qur’an 27.4)

I see that everywhere, both those close to me and those far away. For privacy reasons shall not speak of those close by BUT look at the Ruler of Dubai and perhaps the fabled MBS, and Trump and Netanyahu. What a crew. It certainly motivates me to get on, and stay on, the Straight Path. Hahaha I do not want to spend eternity with any of them. Hahaha

Photographs from Lyf. The lobby and the yummiest dessert you can possibly imagine.

Sent a photo to Shamir.

Me: Going for dessert now.

He: Okay. Have a good dessert.

Me: This is the Banoffee. With banana creme, coffee and hazelnut praline. Soon to my tummy

He: It looks yummy

Me: It was. It is now in your Mummy’s tummy. Like you were and not.

He: Hahahahahaha

Me: I love making you laugh and always will.
