It seems I somehow MUST write about my day-to-day existence because SO many things happen every day and every day is different than the day before. I often reflect upon what my life would be like if I were not a Muslim, if I lived in either California or Canada. I would, most probably, be living in an old folk’s home. A ritzy one, because I could afford it with my retirement income, earned on my own with no help from anyone or anything.  But still a place with a lot of old bored unhappy people and the poor harassed staff that has to put up with them. YUCK. I do love that word YUCK

By the way, yuck is a word in the dictionary. Its definition: (as an explanation)  it is used to express strong distaste or disgust. But (as a noun)  to describe something messy or disgusting. Its origin: 1960s (originally US).

Instead my life is full of adventure, new experiences, young enthusiastic people, new gadgets, which you shall hear about. AND the Islamic Faith which, when practiced in the manner intended by Allah (SWT) , is the Way of Ease which leads to Jannah, which goes on forever.

Yesterday turned into an amazingly eventual day. I was staying at Lyf. Shamir picked me up, after this conversation.

He: 12:30 sharp I will pick you up.

Me: That is fine. It can be crooked 12:30. Hahaha

He: 🤣

Me: More time to get the blog written. Great conversation with Nesh, by the way.

So at 12:30 (sharp or crooked) Shamir pulled up in his yellow car which resembles a can opener and off we went. We had an appointment to meet with Daniel of Urban Republic to learn more about my Insta360 device, that does absolutely everything. Shamir had not met Daniel before, they got along famously and we had a great lesson. I had met Daniel a couple of weeks ago, had one very tiring lesson and noticed he had an antiquated phone. I have two phones, the old one is an 11 Pro Max. Daniel is a Muslim, deserving,  and a good worker. Giving him my old phone is a form of charity, in a way a form of zakah. More about the various ways in which ones obligatory charitable contributions can be made. Also Later you will see the movies that Samir and I will make – also I have some ideas about how Daniel and I can make movies.

Then in was back to Lyf- to the restaurant Mojo Pojo which is independently run – a great idea. Across the street is the E and O – all their chefs are hotel employees and apparently the food is not gourmet, nor even tasty. Over brunch, Shamir posted my blog, correcting a spelling error int he title. He had the amazing rigatoni, I had a dessert. An delicious oncoction with bananas. I could not eat it all, so got a box to take back to my room (thank goodness as you shall see). Then other business matters to attend to. Shamir is my AI Manager. All of this proved tiresome.

We were not able to finalize the erasing of the phone at the Urban Republic store. However, with patience and Shamir’s able assistance we were able get it done. WhatsApped a photo to Daniel showing him it was done. (You shall see photo at conclusion of blog.). Shamir and I completed almost all of the tasks on my list. He left, resuming his busy other life.

Daniel came to Lyf, after he got off work, collected his new phone. He is SO grateful and happy which made me grateful and happy. Grateful to Allah I had the phone and the faith provided the motivation give it to a deserving person. And happy that I made another Muslim happy which the Quran tells us is beloved to Allah (SWT).

Back to my room, had a nap but as I said to Shamir.

Me: Our afternoon work left me totally exhausted, not even a nap revived me.

Emma, a wonderful Muslim woman, employed at the Kashmir sent me a darling GIF which you shall see. It said Good Night, but she added: We’re are u going to be coming here.

I answered her that I was SO tired I ate the banana leftover in my room. I was completely exhausted.

My last message to Shamir was. “Good night, sweet dreams, do not get maimed and WIN.

I was referring to his Friday night habit of playing football, and occasionally getting injured.

I prayed Isha prayer, then immediately went to sleep.

Woke this  August 2, 2025 morning in time for Fajr prayer. Then I had formed an intention, which I carried out for the purpose of pleasing Allah (SWT). I read  from my treasured book Nurturing Emotional Intelligence. (Photograph of the cover of book will be shown) It was purchased at the Dakwah Book Store in KL. Books may be ordered online at www.dakwahbookstore.com

I was reading a chapter on the purification of belief, the tawhid.

“Allah is our Creator and our Sustainer. He provides everything for us; from food, shelter, family, children and houses to jobs, money, and intellect. Everything we enjoy in this world belongs to Allah. He has given it to us to test us to see whether we are grateful, and obey His commands, or if we turn away from his guidance, associate partners in worship, and disobey Him. He says: O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you may become righteous. (Surahal-Baqararah 2:21)

In order to worship Allah properly we need to have knowledge about and believe and act upon the principle of tawhid or the oneness of Allah.,It is defined as”realizing and maintaining the unity of of Allah in all of man’s actions which directly or indirectly relate to Him.” (Pg.63 Nurturing Emotional Intelligence.

This was so understandable, so clear. These simple words explained a very complex aspect of the Islamic Faith in a manner I could understand. It was such a gift! I made the intention of reading the book on a daily basis, immediately after Fajr prayer, when my brain is functioning at its best and there are no interruptions.

We will fast forward over some unpleasant events of the morning instead focusing on the delicious brunch, eaten at Mojo Pojo. My customary good morning greeting to my WhatsApp folk was not a sunrise, not a sunset BUT instead a photo of my delicious brunch dish. Here was the message: Me: My good norming greeting. The Gravalaz Benedict at Mojo Pojo. Menu to follow.

Then a photo of a portion of the menu followed with this caption: ere is the menu. Less than ten bucks US for this absolutely delicious dish. Shamir answered.

He: U are in heaven.

Me: Yes, on my way to Jannah. Inshallah Hahaha

Sent it to many, to one woman who we shall call Happy. I had brunched with her at Mojo Pojo in the past. This our  interaction.

She: Oh ur back.

Me: Yes I go back and forth from Lyf every week.

She: Let’s meet u next weekend if u are available.

Me: Sure I will be staying at Lyf over the weekend again.

She: Sunday Brunch.

Me: Great!! You can choose or we can do Mojo Pojo. I am paying of course, as it is my turn.

She: Mojo. Haven’t tried their new menu. How was it?

Me: Great See the. Photo of the eggs I think I sent.

She: Let’s pick a time. 1:30 pm

Me: Perfect. I will make reservations.

She: So recap. 9/8 at 1:30 pm. Don’t get the dates wrong.

Me: Perfect.

She: Otherwise u thought I stood u u. Like he previous encounter.

Me: Hahaha Be quiet. I can be stupid. I admit.

She: No silly. It’s an honest mixup

Me: It will be great so see you again.

Then I tried scheduling with Siri and something was not right.

Me: My calendar says 9/8 is Friday

She: Oh wait It’s 10/8 Sunday. Now I got mixed up.

Me: So what is the correct day in August. Hahaha

She: Sunday the 10th.

Me: Okay. This is SO funny. I cannot believe it. I gotta talk about it on the blog. You can remain nameless or I will call you Happy.

She: Brilliant.

Me: Thanks

This is the background story.  We were to have brunch but I got the date wrong, I talked about it in a prior blog, June 13, 2025. Receiving a Priceless Gift; Artificial Intelligence Used to Understand the Concept; Generosity and Selflessness Defined with Examples Given; The Importance of the Watch Revealed; Thinking it was Wednesday Found Me Admiring Mohan’s Watch; The Next Day Gift; Truth is Stranger Than Fiction Explored Again; Photos of the Watch on My Arm and the Original on the Arm of Dave Dryburgh

Go back and read the blog. But, if you are too lazy,  here is a synopsis basically taken from the title. I thought it was Wednesday, it was Tuesday. So I though Happiness had stood me up. Went to see Mohan at the Kashmir. I admired his watch. The very next day he bought me one and brought it placing it on my arm. It has such special significance to me. I am SO grateful. Wear it ALL the time. Dave Dryburgh in my uncle, I was writing a biography of his life. His life was completed at a young age but the biography has not been.  He was probably wearing a watch (just like mine) when he drowned in 1948. All this is true which is stranger than fiction.

Photos of the phone, the GIF from Emma, the book, the eggs, the menu.
