Today is USA Independence Day, as it is called. Canada names the Day of its founding Canada, the name of its country, Not the arrogant United States. It is as if they actually believe they invented independence. Let us look to see the meaning of the word.
Independence is defined as the fact or state of being independent. That is not particularly helpful. Then looking to for synonyms. Here are some: self-rule, home rule, self-legislation, self-determination,, autonomy, nonalignment, freedom, liberty. However there are other synonyms: individuality, unconventionality, unorthodoxy; boldness, unconstraint, lack of constraint/restraint; indiscipline, unruliness, willfulness, contrariness. These synonyms have greater accuracy when describing the United of America of today. Very sad, but very true.
But enough of that. Nothing I can say, or do, will change the course of history. I am grateful to the opportunity that the United States provided me, but it ceased being the land of opportunity years and years and years ago.
Another diversion from my current life and times which was promised in a prior blog. We shall now move to Instagram and the numbers I have been receiving, and for what.

My dear friend and Muslim sister Yasmin is traveling to Dubai to visit her precious daughter and infant granddaughter. She said I should come to Dubai.
Me: No thanks. I am not in the good books of the Ruler of Dubai. I might never get out of thee and back home to safety in Malaysia. He has a history of disposing of those who challenge him.
