Well, it should be on my mind since I am going there. Hahaha In the past, to a great extent I have always thought and planned ahead. It was impossible to do so when I came to live in Saudi Arabia as the truth is never told about Saudi Arabia. There are lies from the West and a suppression of truth by KSA. No wonder I had an impossible time there. But I did survive it seems. I am just over the causeway but later shall be on a plane – first to another Middle East country but then, blessedly to Malaysia.
I do admit to not knowing very much about Malaysia but a Saudi friend (AF1) kindly supplied information. He had sent me information on Nigeria.
Me: But I think you should be sending me stuff on Malaysia because that is my next stop. Maybe a vacation to Nigeria. Hopefully they will not kidnap me. One step at a time. I jokingly say to a Nigerian man that I fear I shall be kidnapped and sold to white slavery. With my blue eyes I would fetch a great deal of money.
AF1, through the magic of Whats App brought me: https://en.m.wikipediaorg/wiki/Malaysia It was a learning experience. This from Wikipedia.
“Malaysia[d] is a country in Southeast Asia. The federal constitutional monarchy consists of 13 states and three federal territories, separated by the South China Sea into two regions: Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo’s East Malaysia. Peninsular Malaysia shares a land and maritime border with Thailand and maritime borders with Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia. East Malaysia shares land and maritime borders with Brunei and Indonesia, as well as a maritime border with the Philippines and Vietnam. Kuala Lumpur is the national capital, the country’s largest city, and the seat of the legislative branch of the federal government. Putrajaya is the administrative centre, which represents the seat of both the executive branch (the Cabinet, federal ministries, and federal agencies) and the judicial branch of the federal government. With a population of over 33 million, the country is the world’s 43rd-most populous country. Malaysia is tropical and is one of 17 megadiverse countries; it is home to numerous endemic species.”
Like almost everywhere in this world there was colonization, most frequently by so-called, formerly called Great Britain.
‘The country has its origins in the Malay kingdoms, which, from the 18th century on, became subject to the British Empire, along with the British Straits Settlements protectorate. During World War Two, British Malaya, along with other nearby British and American colonies, was occupied by the Empire of Japan.[15] Following three years of occupation, Peninsular Malaysia was unified as the Malayan Union in 1946 and then restructured as the Federation of Malaya in 1948. The country achieved independence on 31 August 1957. On 16 September 1963, independent Malaya united with the then British crown colonies of North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore to become Malaysia. In August 1965, Singapore was expelled from the federation and became a separate, independent country.
I always wondered about Singapore, it got expelled – took too long at recess perhaps. Sassed back the teacher? Beat up its classmates??? I am happy with most of what I found in the following paragraph.
The country is multiethnic and multicultural, which has a significant effect on its politics. About half the population is ethnically Malay, with minorities of Chinese, Indians, and indigenous peoples. The official language is Malaysian Malay, a standard form of the Malay language. English remains an active second language. While recognising Islam as the official religion, the constitution grants freedom of religion to non-Muslims. The government is modelled on the Westminster parliamentary system, and the legal system is based on common law. The head of state is an elected monarch, chosen from among the nine state sultans every five years. The head of government is the prime minister.
All of this is good. English is an active second large, Islam is the official religion, the Westminster parliamentary systems works Better than the American atrocity, The legal system is based on the common law. I am a lawyer so I will no my way around. I know of the Prime Minister who has the same last name as my Malaysian Muslim Sister.
I realized with a start. This is the first time in eleven long years that I am going somewhere in anticipation – not fleeing somewhere. First the confirming boredom of the County of Marin, most recently the oppression of Saudi Arabia. I have a warm and loving family to greet me. I am so incredibly blessed – well at this moment anyway,
I used the word start. It does not mean begin. Instead here are some of its synonyms: flinch, jerk, , twitch, recoil, blench, winced flinched and twitched realizing the difficult times I have experienced. Imagine this – going to the UAE with no information whatsoever about what was really going on there. My retirement income would have been confiscated, expropriated by one of the Royal owned banks of the UAE. Instead I escaped to Canada – to another series of misadventures. Then to Saudi Arabia – escaping all of the time.
But back to Malaysia. It is doing well economically, so it does not have to rip off unsuspecting desperate people as the UAE does. The UAE is rich but its leaders are greedy.
“After independence, the gross domestic product (GDP) grew at an average rate of 6.5% per year for almost 50 years. The country’s economy has traditionally been driven by its natural resources but is expanding into commerce, tourism, and medical tourism.”
I have no idea what medical tourism might be. Perhaps I can get some facial work done at some point. Hahaha
I love railways. AF1 informed me of a route between Penang and the capital city. I am planning on going to Kuala Lamper to visit Alix Residences. My Malaysian Sister is going with me. She had thought of going on the train but had not mentioned it.
“Railway transport in Malaysia is state-run, and spans some 2,783 kilometres (1,729 mi).[217] As of 2016, Malaysia has the world’s 26th-largest road network, with some 238,823 kilometres (148,398 mi) of roads. Malaysia’s inland waterways are the world’s 22nd-longest, and total 7,200 km (4,474 mi).”
This was the greatest news and explained everything. Throughout the seven years of the blog I have done my statistics done by country. Singapore always top ranking. The reason may be this.
“Malaysia’s telecommunications network is second only to Singapore’s in Southeast Asia, with 4.7 million fixed-line subscribers and more than 30 million cellular subscribers.”
Wow! Soon my Malaysian readers will surpass my Saudi Arabia readers, which surpassed my Canadian readers, which surpassed by United States readers.
This is SO encouraging to me as I have been living in expat lands: 91.8 per cent of the population are Malaysian citizens. How responsible of them! Their citizens are able to make a living in their country of origin – unlike India, unlike the Philippines. They do not USE others to do their dirty work for them, like so many Middle East countries.
I do hope they encourage some immigration . Perhaps I can achieve refugee status, since I am a refugee. I face brutality and isolation being a single Muslim old woman.
I was thinking of a way to express my joy about going to Malaysia. A strange expression came to mind: Yipee-Ki-Yay. Of course I Googled it to find it was perfect. The origin of the expression is somewhat debated, but it is generally believed to be a creative and humorous way to express excitement or determination. The use of “yippee” suggests joy or enthusiasm, while “ki-yay” is less clear in its origin but is thought to be a playful or emphatic addition. But then this: “Yippee-Ki-Yay, Motherf*cker!” is one of the most idiosyncratic catchphrases in all of cinema history, largely for the fact that no one really knows what it means at all.”
What a way to close this blog. I need to go and pack. I am staying for a few days in a hotel whose name appealed to me. It was startling to see that I will have a pool in my room. I altered my Malaysian Sister immediately, telling her of the hotel, she looked it up learning of the pool. .
She: Is it this one???? Ya Yesssss Yeszzzz Yess
Me: It is! OMA My goodness my own pool I can finally learn to swim
She: Me too Can I Can I Can I
Me: We will hire a handsome man to teach us. Who knew a chance meeting in Medina would lead to this.
She: Speechless.
She then sent a picture of the pool from the website.
She: Is this the private pool?
Me: Do not know. Where is the handsome man?
She: Not available baby lol
Me: I will keep looking.
She: Hey handsome. Where are U?
Me: I have a talent for finding them.
She: Really U should share the secret with me. We r sisters.
Me: You are going to have to pay me for that secret.
She: No it is free!
Me: Okay. The GIF you sent is my reward, It is perfect.
I do not know how to send GIFs to myself to put on the blog. However I did contact a man, telling him about the pool and the search for a handsome man.
Me: Can you swim?
He: Just barely LOL
Me: Maybe that will have to do. I do remember that you are handsome. I will have to check with my Malaysian Sister.
I was able to send the GIF to him, with a message.
Me: Me laughing at you thinking you were handsome. NO I said you were. You said you could barely swim. The pool is very small, That may have to do. Hahaha
I have an amazing talent. Dump one guy and there is always another one waiting in the wings. Waiting in the wings is an idiom. If someone or something is waiting in the wings, they are not yet active or important, but are ready or likely to be so soon. Hmmmmmm Or to be to be ready to do something or be used at any time. Perhaps run an ad. Looking for a handsome man who wants to be used at any time. Hahaha
I have arrived. For once I am speechless. I leave it to you to see for yourself, a photo has been provided. I could not even dream of such beauty. It is 3:30 in the morning, an electrical storm greets me – thunder and lightning. .. Testimony of the grandeur and power of Allah (SWT).
Allhanduillah.
