Faithfully read the longer article on the hearings. This is the bottom line: “Liz Cheney, the committee’s other Republican, summed it up: “President Trump summoned the mob, assembled the mob and lit the flame of this attack.” And he and his cronies did so, the committee has concluded, in the clear knowledge that Mr Trump had lost the election he claimed to have won.”
Then listen to this: When it (the riot) began Mr Trump sat back and watched it happen. “Not only did President Trump refuse to tell the mob to leave the Capitol, he placed no call to any element of the US government to instruct that the Capitol be defended,” said Ms Cheney, in a powerful opening speech. “He did not call his secretary of defence on January 6th. He did not talk to his attorney-general. He did not talk to the Department of Homeland Security. President Trump gave no order to deploy the National Guard that day, and he made no effort to work with the Department of Justice to co-ordinate and deploy law-enforcement assets.”
WOW!! Nine people lost their lives as a result of Trump’s actions. He definitely has blood on his hands. Blood on one’s hands is used to say that someone is responsible for someone else’s death. Shakespeare used the concept in Macbeth. The blood on Macbeth’s hands symbolizes the guilt he feels for murdering Duncan. Lady Macbeth speaks these words at the end of the play, wandering around the castle in a delirium trying to wash out an invisible bloodstain, a symbol of her guilt. MacBeth is seen as a moral play as everyone pays for their sins. What, would happen if a person in authority seeking justice heard the facts emanating from the hearing and brought charges against Trump for voluntary manslaughter. His actions caused the death of nine people. A moral play called Trump could be written by a modern day Shakespeare. Hmmmmm
it seems that nothing much is going to happen as a result of the truths that have been revealed. “There is little chance that the January 6th committee will convince many of them otherwise, now or after the half-dozen further hearings it is planning this month (the next, due on June 13th, will describe Mr Trump’s efforts to change the election results in the key states that he lost). Fox News did not even broadcast the hearing. The Republican leadership has dismissed it as a partisan witch-hunt. The best hope for the Democrats who dominate the committee is to rally their own voters against that cynicism in November’s mid-terms.”
However, Liz Cheney has the last word: “Tonight, I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: there will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.” Now that is a woman who thinks with her brain, even though she is a Republican.
Promised myself to not be consumed with things American upon my return to Canada. But when the truth of a matter is revealed, it must be acknowledged. I was an American living in America on January 6, 2021. I wanted the record to be set straight, and it has been. I am proud of America for its processes – its system of checks and balances at the Federal level is commendable. But the stupid Republicans through its control of the Supreme Court is ruining even the finest of Institutions. Oh well, what the my goodness.
My apartment overlooks a large square, at this moment there is a large gathering. The music is amplified and can be clearly heard: The refrain, constantly repeated is “Truck You Trudeau”. More words: ‘how incredibly inane he is. The song is most spirited. Almost encourages me to get dressed, go outside to see what is going on down there. Almost – when I get lazy, I get lazy.
Also explored more about gratitude discussed in yesterday’s blog. There are ten benefits to expressing and feeling gratitude. Here they are:
It makes us happier. …
It reduces stress. …
It improves self-esteem. …
It helps us be more resilient. …
It helps us sleep. …
It improves our physical health. …
It improves our romantic relationships. …
It improves our friendships.
Well I definitely need improvement in my romantic relationships. As faithful readers will know a man claiming to be Prince Fazza declared that he wanted to marry me and would visit me in Canada to expedite our nuptials. This was his last and final email, written as a follow up on his proposed visit:
He: Okay am really serious about that I want to come visit you first all you have to do now is go get the royal membership card if you don’t have any then after that I can come visit you then we can talk more on the marriage okay.
My response was definitely x-rated. I was not kind, shall reveal portions of it.
Me: That is complete and utter b.s. and I will reveal this sad story on my blog. You must be joking about the ‘membership card. You are either a fool or a robot or a combination of both. I feel sorry for the poor man you imitate – or perhaps you are him. A blog I wrote in 2017 talked about you and your membership card offer – that was six years ago and it is the same story. I forgot about it but found it accidentally. You are beneath contempt, would not like to be you on Judgment Day. Allah abhors liars and Satans and it appears that you are both. Bye now.”
I do not have enough fingers and toes to count how many times this, or another impersonator (or this man) has ‘come onto me.’ Once it was someone saying she was his sister but she was clearly a robot. This time round he emailed me – my subject line was This is your last chance. Believe me – it is. Mr. No Show that is him. Usually just disappears from contact like he did during my recent Abu Dhabi days. I am compassionate. The real Crown Prince of Dubai is deeply troubled and desperately needs treatment. Although I have a source, I totally give up. Whomever never got any of my money but wasted my precious time. I do not feel sorry for the Crown Prince, he is not the victim – he could repudiate all social media saying that it cannot be him because he has no presence whatsoever on social media. Other celebrities, for example Prince Harry, have done this. But instead the Crown Prince of Dubai flaunts his many followers on social platforms.
But enough of this. Needless to say I am not grateful to that man (or beast or robot), but speaking again of gratitude found an article on the Internet posted by Intelligent Change discusses in detail, citing scientific research, backing up the theory, the various benefits of gratitude in different aspects of life.
Personal benefits of gratitude;
Emotional benefits of gratitude;
Social benefits of gratitude
Career-related benefits of gratitude;
Health benefits of gratitude
The Islamic faith, its basis going back at least 1400 years knew of the benefits and makes the expression of gratitude on of the cornerstones of the faith. It is most impressive and awe inspiring. It is a rational faith, the world’s only rational faith. Rational faith sounds like an oxymoron which is a a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction. According to Wikipedia it is an old word. The term is first recorded as Latinized Greek oxymōrum, in Maurus Servius Honoratus (c. AD 400);[4it is derived from the Greek word ὀξύς oksús “sharp, keen, pointed” and μωρός mōros “dull, stupid, foolish”;[as it were, “sharp-dull”, “keenly stupid”, or “pointedly foolish”.[The word oxymoron is autological, i.e. it is itself an example of an oxymoron. The Greek compound word ὀξύμωρον oksýmōron, which would correspond to the Latin formation, does not seem to appear in any known Ancient Greek works prior to the formation of the Latin term.
I am sure that is more than you wanted to know about that. I am now viewing my months in Abu Dhabi as an extended photo shoot. Two are of the Grand Mosque. The other from a special exhibit at the Abu Dhabi Louvre. The Phoenix and Dragon exhibit was thoroughly enlightening, fascinating and informative.
