Finally Some Good News Concerning Gaven the Governor; Gavin’s Four Children Get to Go to School While He Prevents Scores of Other Less Privileged Children; Entitled Defined; Trump Makes Yet Another Bad Political and Strategic Decision; Despicable Defined; Day Twelve of Being a Muslim; A Hug; Getting Off One’s High Horse; The Vaccine Within Sight

Finally a stand has been taken against the antics of Gavin the Governor. It is the most delicious news. Of course there may be appeals because, goodness knows, he is not going to admit that he might have been wrong, say “I am Sorry” and go gracefully. So there is the good news. “A judge on Monday preliminarily ordered California Gov. Gavin Newsom to stop issuing directives related to the coronavirus that might interfere with state law. Sutter County Superior Court Judge Sarah Heckman tentatively ruled that one of the dozens of executive orders Newsom has issued overstepped his authority and was “an unconstitutional exercise of legislative power.”Judge Heckman acted in a lawsuit brought by Republican Assemblymen James Gallagher and Kevin Kiley, who said Newsom, a Democrat, was single-handedly overriding state laws in the name of keeping Californians safe.“This is a victory for separation of powers,” the lawmakers said in a joint statement. Newsom “has continued to create and change state law without public input and without the deliberative process provided by the Legislature.”Heckman wrote in a nine-page decision that the California Emergency Services Act “does not permit the Governor to amend statutes or make new statutes. The Governor does not have the power or authority to assume the Legislature’s role of creating legislative policy and enactments.”Newsom used his emergency powers to virtually shut down the state and its economy in the early weeks of the pandemic.“Nobody disputes that there are actions that should be taken to keep people safe during an emergency,” the lawmakers said. “But that doesn’t mean that we put our Constitution and free society on hold by centralizing all power in the hands of one man. Kiley compiled a 28-page list of Newsom’s orders that alter existing state laws, from halting evictions to how public meetings are conducted. The governor also extended deadlines for businesses to renew licenses, file reports, or pay taxes; delayed consumers’ late fees for paying taxes or renewing drivers licenses; suspended school districts’ deadlines and instructional requirements; suspended medical privacy rules; and allowed grocery stores to hand out free single-use bags.

But this is what a hypocrite he is, this Gavin the Governor. His four children are in school – they go to a private school. But he has schools on lock down for all of the ordinary folk. How entitled can one man get?!?! The meaning of entitled is believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment: Used in sentences: Kids who feel so entitled and think the world will revolve around them, His pompous, entitled attitude is despicable. Despicable has the greatest synonyms: Contemptible, loathsome, hateful, detestable, reprehensible, abhorrent, abominable, awful, heinous, beyond the pale; odious, execrable, repellent, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, disgusting, horrible, horrid, horrifying, obnoxious, nauseating, offensive, distasteful, beneath/below contempt; vile, base, low, mean, abject, shameful, degrading, ignominious, cheap, shabby, miserable, wretched, sorry, scurvy; infamous, villainous, ignoble, disreputable, discreditable, unworthy, unscrupulous, unprincipled, unsavoury, dirty, filthy, dirty rotten, rotten, low-down, no-good, beastly. Go through each of the synonyms saying Gavin the Governor is odious, Gavin the Governor is ignominious, etc etc etc. When you finish that exercise do it again with Trump. Trump is loathsome. Trump is reprehensible etc etc etc.

Can you believe how Trump is reacting to the election results? The argument President Trump made early Wednesday — that he had won an election in which millions of validly cast ballots remained to be counted — was a blatant misrepresentation of the electoral process”. This comment as well, both from the New York Times: “Mr. Trump’s defiance — his rejection of an election while it was still playing out and his threat of legal action — shocked even some of his top Republican supporters. “It’s a bad strategic decision,” Chris Christie, the Republican former governor of New Jersey and an adviser to the president, said on ABC. “It’s a bad political decision.”

It is rational and perfectly clear that Biden will win this election. The mail in ballots will obviously be in Biden’s back pocket. They are cautious, safe and informed individuals who voted from the safety of their homes. As Homer Simpson would say:” Dah! “

So I am definitely on my high horse today. If someone said to me:”Get off your high horse!”; they would be saying: to stop talking as if you were better or smarter than other people: It’s time you came down off your high horse and admitted you were wrong” Well, I do not think I am wrong but do admit that I am being a bit haughty about Gavin the Governor and the former President Trump (soon to be Former not quite yet).

Chris, the Brit, my Computer Guru had this to say about the election:

He: I know Biden isn’t a great pick btw but for gods sake trump really needs to go ! He’s been a laughing stock for the us since way before he became the president!

Me: How succinct, how very true.

Life is most encouraging at this point on many levels. An appointment with Primary Care Physician yesterday.

He: How long have you been a Muslim

Me: Today is Day Twelve.

He: How is it going?

Me; Very well thank you. There is a promise of peace and inner happiness if one follows the faith and actually I do feel it. It is rather remarkable – I was not unhappy in the days and months that preceded by entrance into the faith but the feelings of peace and inner happiness have increased.

At the conclusion of our appointment he stood and said:

He: Give me a hug.

Me: I would love to – I love hugs. But I am not going to blog about it because then everyone would expect one and you would be kept very busy and not actually safe with this six feet rule.

He:(laughter)

But upon writing, it occurred to me that no one who reads this blog knows his identity, well some old friends I guess, but that is all. So I blabbed.

Then to Crate and Barrel in Town Center too look for a small sleeper sofa for my new apartment. Sarah led the way immediately to a perfect piece of furniture. She invited me to lay on the bed in order to appreciate how comfortable it was. It was, I did. The photograph is Alexis (aka Ayla) in all her glory.

But even more good news. Bought the Marin newspaper, Marin Independent Journal. The front page announced : Early Preparations Begin For Virus Vaccine Rollout. Dr. Matt Willis, the Marin County Health Officer is so organized and so prepared. After meeting with other experts it was decided tat the first task was to decide who would be offered the vaccine first. Of course, health workers and those working in senior living centers will be first. The second distribution will be those who are “at high risk for bad outcomes” This includes seniors and there is no doubt about it, I am a senior and can prove it. So there may be an end in sight. Most Marin County residents are intelligent and informed and will get the vaccine which is essential. Then I will line up for my booster shot, if need be. By the way, I will be living in Marin when the vaccine will be released.
