Now I am going to rant about Vancouver. Two men whose last name is McBride said they did not follow my blog because I rant. Well I do, but not frequently as faithful readers can attest. Those McBrides have other reasons for not reading the blog. One of the McBrides is straight and the other is gay but the reason for not reading is roughly the same. My goodness, I just realized that they both live in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
I was reading the paper at Dunn’s the other day and came upon an article about a “Former Metro relator was charged in the U.S.” Omid Mashinchi was convicted of money laundering in the U.S. but most of his money laundering took place in this fair city. Vancouver is the money laundering capital of the world, a fact known by Vancouverities who seem to conveniently forget about it. Why? It is because they profit from it – accept cash for expensive cars, real estate and goodness knows what else. So Omid crossed the border into “lawless” USA – he flew from Vancouver to SeaTac International Airport and those pesky Americans nabbed him. The last paragraph of the article found in the August 1, 2018 edition of The Province is so telling. “Vancouver Police Suit. Mike Pprteous said Mashinchi is well known to B.C. law enforcement agencies.” But what were you doing about it Vancouver Police Department? Nothing despite drive by shootings and murders were relatively commonplace in Mashinchi’s holdings. Further, “A Postmedia investigation revealed in June that Mashinchi had started at least three companies in B.C, since 2006, all relating to real estate. While operating the companies, Mashinchi was regularly associating with B.C. gangsters, including leasing them condos that were used both as stash houses and as residences.” So for twelve years Vancouver turned a blind eye toward this criminal and let him not only survive, but thrive. Shame on you! The charming man pled guilty to five counts of money laundering. But here is the real kicker. Mashinchini is expected to apply to serve his sentence in Canada and this may be unopposed by the U.S. Attorney.
What will happen? Canada will let him out, and allow and encourage him continue his ways. What would make anyone believe otherwise?
So today is Gay Pride Day. I want Straight Pride Day – goodness knows it is not easy being straight, why is that not recognized???

The word of the day is salient and when used as an adjective it means most noticeable or important: it succinctly covered all the salient points of the case. prominent; conspicuous: it was always the salient object in my view.
