The Case of the Missing United States Passport; Its Return Leads to Great Joy and Renewed Peace of Mind; A Possible Explanation but, as said to Shamir, it Had to be Allah”; Said to Hammad; “It was a Test and I Passed!” Photo of the Passport and Three Photos of a Magnificent Sunrise Evolving Before Your Eyes

Not sure if I ever mentioned this directly on the blog, it seemed prudent not to mention the loss of my United States passport to the entire world, and they that dwell therein. .

Prudent: acting with or showing care and thought for the future. In other words: cautious, careful, canny, wary, circumspect, far-sighted, forearmed.

But finally became convinced that filing a police report of its loss was the wise, judicious, shrewd, advisable sensible thing to do.

It certainly was NOT easy. Shamir went with me – I never could do it on my own, nor could any foreigner from any land?  It is nigh on impossible. First we went to a local station, After much consultation we were told that as a foreigner I had to go to the main police station. Fortunately we did not go on a Saturday – otherwise the wait would have been interminable.

At some point in time I brilliantly decided that I would write a police report, explaining the complexities of the situation. It was brilliant, we would still be there had this was not done. My written explanation was incorporated into the report without having to dictate it to the various men whose did not take typing in junior high school as I did. I will now attach a copy of it to this, save me the effort of doing it again.

Police Report of  Alexis McBride’s Lost or Stolen United States Passport.

June 21, 2025

I first realized that my US passport was missing on Friday, June the 13th. That day I was required to bring my US passport for identification purposes. I went to the safe in my Lyf hotel room where it was kept but, much to my dismay, it was not there, nor was it anywhere in the room. I did panic at the time thinking it might be in my stay apartment at Rainbow Paradise Beach Resorts. I decided to wait until my return visit, check it out and proceed from there.

I did return to my stay apartment. With some alarm found that it was not there. I then  tried to remember when I last had it, when I last used it. With much effort was able to recall that the last time I used it was on June 4, 2025 at the Celecomdigi International Office located at Bayan Baru offices. As a foreigner all transactions with the company are traced with passports. I was at the office that day as my Wifi suddenly ceased functioning. I was told that I must go to the International office to straighten the matter out. To make a long story short it has not been straightened out – I do not have functioning WiFi despite my payment of a money due (to which I was not informed) a fine and penalty. I was promised, on June 4th that services would be returned within five days, that a representative of the company could contact me. Neither happened, and lengthy phone calls were non availing. I have a continuing dispute with this company but that is not my concern at this present time.

I went to the office with my part-time driver Din. I spoke with him  on June 19, 2025 at some length asking him of his recall of the day. He has no memory of whether or not my passport was returned to me. He searched the car, it was not accidentally left there.

I have a clear memory of seeing the passport on the desk of the woman that was helping me. She did not give me her business card, saying she would contact me through WhatsApp or my email address . She did not, not until June 20th. Her name is Vila, it seemed she was a supervisor of other employees but as she did not provide me with her business card I have no idea of her last name, a way to reach her or her status in the company.

I retraced my steps that day. Din and I left the  Celecomdigi office, driving to the Lyf Hotel where I had made a reservation to check in. I has stayed at the hotel for five weeks in January and early February, was in urgent need of WiFi which I did not have at the stay apartment so decide to return for a few days until service could be restored. Usually when one checks into a hotel a foreigner must submit their passport. Management informed me, when asked, that because I had stayed there in the past they would have a record of my passport and I would not have been asked for the passport upon checking in that day

Therefore the last time I saw my passport was at the Celecomdigi office. As mentioned before my driver said it had not been left in the car.

Finally yesterday, June 20, 2925,  a WhatsApp message was received by a Vila from Celecmdigi. I messaged her speaking of my missing US passport. Her answers were totally non responsive, seemingly of a robot. It seemed and seems useless to contact the office directly to ask them about the passport. I can provide you with the WhatsApp conversation.

She totally misrepresented what she had said in the office conversation recalled both by me and my driver. I intend to seek redress but this report is written to being written for the sole purpose of making the necessary police report of a lost or stolen passport.’

Shamir and I stopped at three or four separate reception areas. One man, using a new system, typed a report, attaching my report, a copy of my passport identification page and the celecomdig receipt. Then back downstairs where someone else laboriously typed another document. A very brief summary stating I had lost my passport on June 13, 2025.

Hours later Shamir and I returned. I went to Kashmir for lunch. Shamir went to the clinic as he had injured his hand playing football the night before. The poor man. He sent a photo with the bad news.
Me: How are you, or more importantly, how is your hand?
He: Fracture. (Sending a photo)
Me: Oops A one armed personal assistant. Guess I only have to pay you 50% of your regular rate. Hahaha
He: Half price. I am gonna get two extra arms after this. Ahaha
Me: Then I probably will have to pay extra for that. Hahaha

When I returned to the hotel I told reception and then later informed Nixon, the hotel manager that I had file a police report.

This morning went down for breakfast, was greeted with front office staff.
They: Are you missing something?
Me: Not that I know of, not today.
He: What about this?  You filed a police report yesterday. Didn’t you? This was found in your old room. The one you vacated to stay near the pool .
Me: Oh my goodness gracious me. This is my US passport, no doubt about that.

I eagerly embraced it – carefully and safely putting it in my purse.  Then I thought to ask:
Me: Where did you find it? You did bring down some clothes I left that very day.
He: In the hotel room safe.

I know beyond a shadow of doubt that I did not leave it there. Believe me I grappled, running my hands all over the tiny safe tens of times.

I have theory that cannot be proven as to what happened. Since it is conjecture I shall not write about it.

Now the definition of two new words./phrases..

“Beyond a shadow of a doubt” means that something is absolutely certain and there is no room for doubt or uncertainty. It implies a high degree of proof or conviction, leaving no possibility of the statement being untrue.

Conjecture is a an opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete information.

I took my newly retrieved US passport, along with my Canadian passport, put them in the safe and then – for the first time, carefully locked it with a security code. You see, when I first told Nixon of my missing passport I did confess that I, in a trusting manner, had not locked the safe. At the time taking some responsibility for its being gone.

I did, of course, text broken handed Shamir about the found passport.
Me: I do not think I left it  in the room I think it was Allah.
HeL Yes it was.
Me: I am somewhat freaked by the power of our Creator. I think I know what happened. But it was Allah and it was a test.

I also spoke to Alina.
Me: I figured out what might have happened. I cannot wait to see you and tell you of the immense powers of our Creator. I might write about it o the blog. It was a test. I passed.
I left her an emotional spoken message, ending with Alhamdulillah.
She: Alhamdulillah

I also left a similar message with Hammad. This was his response.
Me: My passport found. It was Allah. It was a test. I passed!
He: OMG!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. You know how many tests I’ve done they and passed this year?
Me: No I do not know how many but it is an extreme comfort to know you too are being tested. Most Muslims I have et have no idea of this never experiencing it, I suppose.  I pity their complacency.

(Complacency: a feeling of smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one’s achievements. Synonyms show clearly that complacency is against the teaching of the  Quran: self-satisfaction, self-approval, self-approbation, self-admiration, self-congratulation, self-regard, pride.

Attached is a photo of the recovered passport and a series of photographs taken from my stay apartment. They were featured on an Instagram post recently. Filters were not employed. The glorious sunrise given to us by Allah (SWT).
