So it was more than a little surprising to receive and email inviting me to participate in graduation. As I had purposefully not submitted the final draft of my biography of Uncle Dave. City, University of London Graduation: Your InvitationTo: Alexis McBride Cc: alexis.McBride@city.ac.uk.
Somehow the saying: “God moves in mysterious ways” comes to mind. This is certainly strange. Of course, I am not attending for many reasons. One being that I sort of live in Canada in my footloose and fancy free manner. The other reasons are contained in the posts of February 15h 2017 and February 24, 2017.
Dear Alexis
We know that you have either recently completed your course at City, University of London or will do so very soon, so we now have pleasure in inviting you to register to attend your graduation ceremony. This will take place on 19-Jul-2017 at 10:00 am in The Barbican Centre (Silk Street, London EC2Y) – Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue.
If you would like to attend your graduation ceremony, you will need to do the following:
1) Read the terms and conditions for participation in the graduation ceremony. Due to the formality of this event, there are a number of terms and conditions which you are deemed to have accepted by registering to attend.
2) Register to attend, book your gown and purchase guest tickets online by the deadline, which is 23:59 on July 4th 2017. You will be prompted to provide your student number, this is [——]. Please be aware that only those who register by this date will be able to attend the graduation ceremony.
You may purchase up to two guest tickets when registering your attendance at the graduation and guest tickets cost £25 each. The ticket price includes a drinks reception following the ceremony. Please note that guest tickets are subject to availability and graduation ceremonies can sell out; it is advised you purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Waiting list for extra tickets: if you require more than two guest tickets, these may be available once the registration deadline (July 4th 2017) has passed and we are able to assess attendee numbers. You will be able to register your interest in obtaining extra tickets during the online booking process. We will then notify you on or around July 5th 2017 as to the possible availability of additional tickets which you will then be able to purchase.
If you are not able to attend your graduation ceremony, you will need to do the following:
Please complete the following form and provide an address to which your certificate can be posted
Certificates will be posted 2 weeks after the ceremonies have taken place, so please bear this in mind when providing an address. If you do not wish to have your certificate posted there is an option within the form for you to choose to have you or a friend collect it from the Student Centre. Please note that once the booking system has closed, we are unable to produce any certificates until after the ceremonies have taken place.
With best wishes,
Student Records Manager
